The (comprehensive) duties of the trustee in the BTVG

The trustee plays a central role in real estate transactions under the BTVG. The BTVG applies if the buyer has to make payments of more than EUR 150/m² to the developer before completion; In this case, it is mandatory to appoint a trustee. The latter must strictly comply with the obligations imposed on him, which serve to protect the purchaser, in order not to be liable for any damages suffered by the purchaser. Some duties that are particularly relevant in practice are briefly presented below.
